The Anne Carlsen Center REAL program and the Therapy team in Jamestown has begun to partner with Safe Kids – Grand Forks and several major aquatics facilities in the Grand Forks region to begin a movement to make adapted swimming lessons available for people with all types of disabilities. Another partner is the Red Cross which is the most widely respected providers in the field of aquatic safety. At the present time, this committee has embarked on editing the chapter in the Red Cross Swimming Guide pertaining to adaptive swimming.
This day and a half long course, sponsored by Safe Kids Grand Forks and the Altru Family YMCA, will provide both classroom education and in-water training on how to work with special needs individuals in an aquatic environment.
The class has a $20 registration fee to attend. Please note the application deadline. There are a limited number of spots available in the training and those selected to participate will be notified no less than 2 weeks prior to the class date. The registration check/fee will be returned if applicants are not selected.
